OUR
HISTORY
The Church was founded on March 12, 1887 as a mission of First Presbyterian
Church in Greenville. The present sanctuary was completed in 1889.
In August 1973, the congregation left the Presbyterian Church in the
United States due to its increasing departure from Biblical truth and
our Confessional Standards. The congregation then voted to unite with
the Presbyterian Church in America which was in its first year of existence.
OUR
BELIEFS
Our congregation and officers are committed to the full inspiration
and inerrancy of the Bible, the orthodox Christian faith, as taught
in the historic creeds (Apostles', Nicene, Athanasian, Chalcedonian),
the Reformation's teaching that salvation is by grace alone, through
faith alone, but not by a faith that is alone. Our theology and spirituality
are those taught in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Westminster
Shorter and Larger Catechisms.
